3 tips for your multi-part flat knit compression for lipedema and lymphedema

- Advertising -

We all know the classic compression tights, but what does a multi-part flat-knit compression look like in lipedema and lymphedema, what should be considered and for whom is it suitable? Here are three good tips if you want to try this type of restoration.

When does a multi-part flat knit compression make sense?

Multi-part flat-knit compressions are usually prescribed if there are problems using the toilet and then putting the supply back on. Lack of strength in the hands, an accompanying illness such as B. rheumatism, or extreme proportional differences make wearing one-piece tights sometimes difficult. But which subdivision is the right one for me?

1st tip:
Choose the subdivision based on your personal circumstances

I have already tried out the most common multi-part flat-knit compressions for myself and even with my supposedly easy-to-care-for silhouette, not every division is wearable.

Cyclist pants with thigh stockings

My center of gravity is around my hips and thighs, so one Cycling trousers combined with thigh stockings does not necessarily represent my optimal care. Because the clouds, as you can still like to call the breeches, form the widest point on the lower body and make it difficult for the stockings to stay up.

However, if you have stomach problems and want to switch to a lower compression class for the body part, the Radler combination might be worth a try!

For those with the lack of strength in their arms to constantly pull up the compression, I would recommend this variant most likely. Cycling trousers like this can be put on and taken off in no time and if you fold your thigh highs, try them medi fix adhesive lotion.

With this care, it is particularly important that the thigh stockings also pack the clouds of the inner thighs well and protrude into the crotch. Warning: If the stockings don't fit perfectly here, you run the risk of getting sore. If you have more problems with it, this one can help you Skin protection gel help.

Capri pants with knee socks

Another possibility of multi-part flat knit compression is Capri pants with knee socks. I got along a little better with this variant, but here you have to note that a transition from the Capri to the knee-high can be seen optically on the calves. Make sure you are sensitive to the back of your knees. Your knee socks probably have an adhesive tape with non-slip nubs. If you sweat in summer, these can cause skin reactions. Slowly approach the matter.

Leggings with knee socks

The last variant that I would like to introduce to you is the leggings with knee socks. Unfortunately, socks are not suitable for this, as the closure at the ankle carries the risk of cutting into and promoting deposits.

Personally, I am wearing the leggings for the first time and in exceptional cases I can wear them without knee socks in summer. But here, too, it is important that, at best, you do not have the restoration made without stockings. Even if you are not prone to lymph congestion, the flat knit leggings are a one-way street if the compression on the foot is not continued. Always be aware of this. Especially in summer, the vessels are usually somewhat enlarged and therefore tend to accumulate.

I see a pleasant advantage when putting on the compression, because once you've put on the knee socks, the leggings slide even more easily over the heel. Here I will show you once based on my mediven 550 as Leggings and knee socks in cashmere with the fashion element dots, how it all looks.

Tip 2:
Additives for the optimal flat knit supply

It is not that easy to find your way in the additional jungle, because there are a lot of them! I am happy to show you three of my favorites:

The buttocks forming body part

The butt-forming body part ensures that the well-known diaper butt is not created, but that the natural rounding of the butt comes into its own.

Tailor's ball relief zone

This small relief zone takes the additional pressure off the sensitive tailball and ensures more comfort. Incidentally, they are also available for hallux!

Functional knee zone

I no longer want to live without this functional zone. It minimizes the formation of wrinkles in the hollow of the knee and ensures better elasticity on the kneecap.

Tip 3:
Don't pull the seam into the bar

When doing your compression, always make sure that the seam between the leg and body part is not in your groin, but slightly diagonally next to it. This is the only way to ensure that the lymphatic channels that run there are not impaired. If this is not yet optimal for your current supply, simply ask your Sanifee about it with the next recipe. Together you will perfect your compression!

Will your next restoration be a multi-piece flat knit compression?

Now I have passed all my knowledge on to you so that you can approach your next compression like a flat knitting professional. Have you already had experience with multi-part restorations that you would like to share with us? Then write them in the comments!

I'm Caroline, born in 1989 and live in Augsburg. Why did I start the lipedema fashion blog? At the beginning of my diagnosis I was completely helpless before an uncertain future. Now, a few years later, through active participation in self-help groups and a lot of research, I have accumulated a wealth of experience that I would like to make available to other affected persons in one place - without the detour via private groups on Facebook. The fashion component is of course due to my hobby. At the time, I promised myself that I would never be restricted by compression stockings. This attitude gives other patients courage and so Michaela advised me to start a blog.

  • Hi there,
my first supply was a cyclist with thigh stockings. This was followed by pantyhose with a side zip.
Only since yesterday I have my first leggings without knee socks.

Now I have 3 different variants, but I still can't find out which one is better for myself. Each variant has its advantages but also disadvantages.

I've only been wearing flat knit compression myself since April this year. I think I just haven't found the right manufacturer and variant for myself yet.

Thank you dear Carolin for your great contribution.
