FAQ - Anja - The 10 most frequently asked questions for me

Your worries, your fears and many questions reach me every day by email. To make the whole thing clear, I have summarized the 10 most common questions for you.

The most common questions to me:

1. How did you manage to lose weight?

I've lost more than 20 pounds. It's actually very simple. I have started to eat healthy and low in calories. I monitor my diet with a calorie tracker via app. I use Fatsecret for this (there are many others). I also do sports and try to move a lot and often. All of this led to weight loss, but not to any change in my lipedema findings. I wrote a contribution to it here: Vom eating more and losing weight

2. How often do you exercise a week?

That is different. I try to do 3–6 times a week. If my everyday life doesn't allow so much, then I try not to stress myself. Sport should ultimately always be fun and not be an obligation.

3. What kind of sport do you do, what can you recommend?

Again, it always depends on my mood and what I feel like doing. From Yoga (YouTube channel: Happy and Fitness Yoga) via Hiit (YouTube channel Anne Bodykiss) everything is included. I also like to go jogging when I have time. I prefer to do strength training with dumbbells or my kettlebell.

You can find contributions here: Kettlebell training / Yoga / shred

4. Where did you have the operation?

I had my liposuction performed at the Hanseklinik Lübeck. I had a total of three operations. You can find more information here: Liposuction Part 1 and Part 2 (Part 3 is in progress).

5. Why are you still wearing your compression despite having an operation?

For one thing, I feel better and more confident with compression. On the other hand, I am really afraid that everything will "break out" again. I want to prevent and therefore try to do everything possible. I also go to MLD regularly. Everyone has to find their own way - I have currently chosen mine that way. Who knows what's to come ...

6. Are you satisfied with the result and are you still in pain?

I can definitely say YES! I am satisfied with the result and I would do it again. I still have bad days every now and then when I'm happy to have my compression. But these are extremely rare and mostly related to my period. I try not to let illness rule my life. I, and I alone, determine my life.

7. Has the health insurance company covered the costs and which one are you with?

No, the health insurance has not found it necessary for me (and so many others) to step in and give me this chance for improvement. I am with the AOK Brandenburg.

8. Where do you always find your skirts?

Dear ones, I only cook with water too. I just look in stores for suitable models. I usually find it at H&M, C&A or New Yorker. The models I wear are called skater skirts. With the term you can find a lot of variations on the internet. Have fun browsing -> Amazon*, Skirts in the C&A online shop*

9. Do you think thigh highs or tights are better?

I myself only wear tights because I don't really like the two-part one. But that's a matter of taste. You have to wear the compression and you should decide what TO YOU is most dear. I can only tell you about my experience and say that I love tights.

10. Which color would you choose for the first compression?

For starters, I would actually tend towards black. Even if I'm a colorful girl. It just goes with everything. Otherwise, just take a look in your closet. Do you have a lot of brightly colored things, a bit of every color? Then muted colors like gray, black, brown are your colors at the Kompri. If your closet is more Black & White, then you can dare to use color with a clear conscience. It is important that you feel comfortable and do not allow yourself to be restricted by anything.

I hope I was able to answer all questions satisfactorily. Should you still have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
