Soft, snug and comfortable – sounds like JOBST Confidence, doesn't it? I tested the flat-knit compression tights for you and was pleasantly surprised when I tried them on! Does the name sound familiar? That's right. Some time ago I had a look at the JOBST knee-high garments in the new fabric for mild and moderate lymphedema and lipedema patients which made me curious how they might feel as tights.
So, what's special about this flat-knit fabric?
Compared to the previous flat-knit garments, the Contour Fit technology now offers size adjustments of the compression garment at four different positions. You can recognize this by the small dots in the knitted fabric.
Another special feature is the waist section with no seam in the groin area. This, in my eyes, is a very well-designed alternative to the previous waist section. The seams now run along the buttocks and gusset, which takes pressure off the groin and ensures a continuous pressure gradient. This solution is not only practical, but also makes for greater wearing comfort.
The soft yarn is also striking. It feels really pleasant on the skin and gives greater flexibility, yet without sacrificing support. Personally, I need a high wall thickness, and at first, I was worried that JOBST Confidence could be too soft for me. But I was very pleasantly surprised!
The knit tends to gather in at the knee. I find it pleasantly surprising how little it bothers me, but if you want to be on the safe side, feel free to consult your helpful medical supplier to see if a functional zone at the site could compensate for this in your case.
What variations does JOBST Confidence come in?
Our bodies come in many shapes and sizes, and our garment options have to match them. That's why JOBST Confidence comes in different length types:
- Leggings
- Shorts
- Socks
- Panty
- One leg panty
- thigh high
- knee high, and
- sleeve.
Your medical supply store can tell you which combination of multi-part garments is suitable for you or even whether only a single-part garment makes sense in your case. Simply ask them for advice when the opportunity comes up. You can find a suitable medical supply store in the Dealer Locator.
Summing it up: My JOBST confidence experience
I am absolutely positively surprised at how much support JOBST Confidence gives me as a panty and yet sacrifices nothing in comfort. This flat-knit fabric is particularly suitable for those whose skin is sensitive to coarser knits, who are looking for a cuddly stocking, or who have problems with the groin seam. What have your experiences been like so far? Do you have any tips for care or advice at the medical supply store? Feel free to write them in the comments.
JOBST Confidence tights coming soon in the UK
My 12yo wears the soft knee high. She doesn't require full leg but is getting to an age where wearing knee high 'socks' will attract attention to her whilst in school. Is there the option of tights with compression in the lower part. Wearing both compression garments and tights would be too much for her.
